With a new outlet in Tokyo, Hermès is fine-tuning its presence in Japan. This is a resilient market for the luxury goods sector, and one that Hermès particularly appreciates.
At the end of February, Hermès opened a new store in Tokyo, in Azabudai Hills.
At the end of 2023, the saddler had already given a major facelift to its Japanese portfolio by unveiling two renovated stores, one in Sapporo, on the island of Hokkaido, the other being its historic and only address in Kyoto, within the Takashimaya department store.
A “booming” district
Located between Roppongi and Toranomon Hills, close to the emblematic Tokyo Tower, the “booming district” of Azabudai Hills, where the new Hermès store in Tokyo has opened, is described by some as a genuine “modern urban village”, which is multiplying its assets to attract shoppers. Set in a veritable oasis of greenery, the district is particularly welcoming, with its many parks and gardens, stores, restaurants and the very popular teamLab Borderless digital art museum, which has successfully relocated there.
