Ferrari, which aims to electrify all its vehicles, has unveiled a brand new plug-in hybrid model, the 296 GTS convertible.

After the SF90, SF90 Spider and 296 GTB models, Ferrari presents its brand new 296 GTS model. This two-seater novelty is equipped with a retractable roof allowing it to become a real convertible, although the engine remains the same as for the fixed roof model, the 296 GTB.

According to Ferrari, it takes only 14 seconds to “retract or extend” the vehicle’s roof when the 296 GTS is in motion, up to 45 km/h.

The car has a 6-cylinder turbocharged mid-rear engine and a 122kW electric motor for a total output of 830bhp, with a top speed of over 330km/h. It is slightly slower than the 296 GTB, especially with its retractable roof, as it goes from 0 to 200 km/h in 7.6 seconds compared to 7.3 seconds for the former model.

Finally, this model offers a choice of four driving modes, including eDrive, which allows up to 25 km of driving at up to 135 km/h in full electric mode.

Deliveries of the new 296 GTS convertible are expected to begin in Europe by early next year and the price of the new model has not yet been revealed, but is expected to exceed that of the 296 GTB, which is set at 269,000 euros.
