EssilorLuxottica and Chalhoub to expand eyewear sales in the Gulf States

The world’s number one ophthalmic and optical company, EssilorLuxottica, signed an agreement with the Chalhoub Group on Wednesday. The partnership aims to develop the sale of eyewear in the Gulf region, by introducing new stores and brands.

 

EssilorLuxottica, the manufacturer of corrective lenses and optical instruments, announced Wednesday the signing of a joint venture agreement with the Chalhoub Group. The latter is specialized in luxury and based in Dubai. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

 

The agreement aims to develop the sale of eyewear in the GCC region (Gulf Cooperation Council). The two groups want to evolve the eyewear category in this geographic area with “enhanced customer service and an unparalleled consumer experience.”

 

“The agreement will combine EssilorLuxottica’s eyewear expertise, technologies and brands with the Chalhoub Group’s deep understanding of the region’s consumers and its ability to deliver unforgettable experiences to them, to grow the category and deliver a superior level of customer service”, the groups said.

 

Single and multi-brand

 

A series of single and multi-brand stores will be opened in the GCC region around EssilorLuxottica’s global eyewear brands, such as Ray-Ban, Persol and Oliver Peoples.

 

“The unique multi-brand luxury brand David Clulow – born in the UK and well known among Middle Eastern consumers in London – will also be introduced in new stores with the aim of enhancing the customer experience through unparalleled service combined with the best eyewear technology”, the statement added.
