Chinese New Year: Luxury Brands celebrates pig

Between original campaigns and capsule collections, the world of luxury has not forgotten to honour the Chinese New Year, which will be celebrated on February 5, 2019. A look at some fashion exclusives under the sign of the pig.

Gucci and the little pigs

Gucci first unveiled a campaign focused on the Year of the Pig, in honour of the Chinese New Year.
The pieces are now available, highlighting the small pink animal in colourful pieces.
Among the highlights of this collection are women’s pyjamas in flamboyant colours, an intarsia knit, T-shirts and sweaters adorned with the pig character created by Gucci, an oversized denim shirt, a redesigned emblematic bezel model or a watch whose dial gives space to Walt Disney’s Tree little pigs.
Dior reinterprets its mythical toile de Jouy
Dior presents a capsule collection of several pieces revisiting the famous toile de Jouy, one of the signature fabrics of the luxury house.
Like many major houses, Dior celebrates the Chinese New Year with a whole collection of chic and sophisticated accessories. However, unlike its counterparts who preferred to pay tribute to the Year of the Pig, Dior offers a capsule full of symbols, between poetry and femininity.
For this special collection, Maria Grazia Chiuri, the house’s artistic director, gave a new interpretation of Jouy’s canvas, covered for the occasion with red hydrangeas. A symbolic choice since it evokes not only Christian Dior’s passion for this colour, but also his adoration for flowers.
Emporio Armani designs the Chinese New Year

The Italian brand Emporio Armani also presents a women’s cloakroom for the Chinese New Year, drawing on the colours of China and reinterpreting the pig with graphic and stylized motifs.
Among the highlights of the Chinese New Year collection are sweaters, long sleeved cotton jersey T-shirts, cashmere sweaters, a jacket, a leather bomber, a key ring, a shoulder bag, or a watch. The company also offers a special Chinese New Year collection for men.
Michal Kors in red and gold

The famous American brand celebrates Chinese New Year with its MICHAEL Michael Kors line. What can you find? A whole collection of accessories, some of which are available in bright red, adorned with gold details for a glamorous touch. This capsule includes leather goods, including the “Whitney” shoulder bag and the “Rhea” backpack, but also a pair of white “Poppy” sneakers.
Let’s get red with Maison Michel

For this festive collection, Priscilla Royer, Artistic Director of Maison Michel, wanted to revisit two of the brand’s flagship creations: the New Abby cap, dressed for the occasion in cashmere, and the Fedora Virginie hat, this time made of rabbit felt. In addition, there are two head accessories: a satin headband and an aged ruthenium bar.
An ultra-desirable capsule of four monochrome creations celebrating the Celestial Empire. The particularity of these parts? A Chinese knot finishes each of them and thus bring luck, strength and happiness, as tradition tells. Available from 25 January, exclusively in Paris and London shops.
