For the launch of the fifth and latest Chance fragrance, Chanel is shaking up its endorsement strategy by recruiting a loyal and clearly identifiable ambassador. The House of Chanel has just unveiled a first glimpse of its future campaign featuring Angèle, a 29-year-old Belgian artist who has been the face of the brand since 2020.
Two months after Chanel showcased its iconic 2.55 bag in the arms of British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa, who was joined in recent days by Jennie, one of the members of the k-pop group BLACKPINK, it is the turn of French-speaking singer Angèle to be showcased by the fashion house on rue Cambon in a campaign. And this time, for a perfume: Chance Eau Splendide.
The new fragrance, which will be marketed in France on April 15, will benefit from a communication campaign that will be revealed in its entirety later this month.
A loyal customer of the House, the Belgian singer-songwriter caused a sensation, among other things, by performing the hit Nightcall (2010) by the French electro artist Kavinsky at the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
A new floral-fruity fragrance for women
After L’Eau de parfum, L’Eau Tendre, L’Eau Fraîche and L’Eau Vive, the Chance de Chanel fragrance collection is expanding with a fifth addition: L’Eau Splendide.
This new fragrance is the work of Olivier Polge, Chanel’s perfumer-creator and son of Jacques Polge, who launched the olfactory saga of Chance in 2003.
The nose of the House of Chanel describes the new juice as “a luminous, spontaneous and captivating fragrance”.
The trail – once again floral and fruity – is based here on a combination of raspberry, rose and violet, married to a floral heart of rose geranium (grown in Grasse, in Chanel’s fields) and powdery iris. To this is added a slightly fractionated cedar accompanied by notes of white musk to give it a slightly woody side.
A campaign embodied
The Chance 2023 campaign was based on an allusion to famous faces where models embodied some of Chanel’s most iconic muses in the history of the House, namely Vanessa Paradis, Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tautou, and Jean-Paul Goude’s muse, Toukie Smith, essentially through their haircuts and coloring.
For Chance Eau Sublime, these fantasized “mini-me” give way to a real star for the first time in the history of Chance fragrances.
