Given the overwhelming consequences of the epidemic crisis, as well as the uncertainty about the evolution of the health situation, the TFWA (Tax Free World Association) revealed on May 12 the cancellation of the World Exhibition & Conference this year. The event, which was supposed to take place for the 36th consecutive time, was scheduled from September 27 to October 2, at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

The TFWA World Exhibition & Conference is a must attend event for the 12,000 duty free and travel retail professionals who meet there every year. A global shop window for the luxury industry, the event is also a privileged opportunity to meet and share experiences and ideas during the several conferences and debates organized there.

The show also allows professionals in the sector to discover a glimpse of tomorrow’s innovations.

The Management Committee was unanimous to take this singular but not less difficult decision. After observing various steps to ensure this 2020 edition, in particular by reducing the space rental fees, the economic and health situation overwhelmed the efforts of the association.

In the press release TFWA President Alain Maingreaud points out the essential nature of the event for the duty free industry and underlines his unwavering support for the various players in this industry to overcome the current crisis: “The cancellation of TFWA World Exhibition & Conference will have a significant impact on the Association’s finances, but thanks to the sound management of our resources up to now, we have been able to build reserves to help us cope with difficult periods such as this. We remain determined to do all we can to help our industry emerge from its most difficult period, keep our members and partners informed and help coordinate our industry’s response to the current crisis.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
