For the first time in its history, Bulgari appoints an artistic director to head its leather goods and accessories collections. It is the designer Mary Katrantzou, already close to the brand, who will take on this role.
As Bulgari has just announced the launch of its Foundation, the Italian brand remains at the forefront by appointing the designer Mary Katrantzou as artistic director of its leather goods and accessories collections.
Born in Athens in 1983, Mary Katrantzou honed her skills by studying at the renowned Central Saint Martins in London. She founded her eponymous ready-to-wear brand in 2008. The use of colors and prints is at the heart of her work, resulting in the creation of spectacular and innovative pieces.
Her talent, quickly recognized by the fashion industry, has led her to sign numerous collections throughout her career. Major players in the industry such as Moncler, Longchamp, or Victoria’s Secret, as well as prestigious institutions such as the Paris Opera, have enlisted her artistic vision.
Today, she enters into a long-term partnership with Bulgari. The designer has been appointed as the creative director of the leather goods and accessories collections by the Italian high jewelry brand. She is the first person to hold this position since Bulgari’s foundation in 1884.
“The rich cultural heritage and Greco-Roman origins of Bulgari played a decisive role in shaping my creative journey. I have always been inspired by Bulgari’s codes and syncretism, its mastery of color, and the richness of its history. It is a great honor for me to become the first creative director of the leather goods and accessories collection of the House, and to open this new chapter to elevate everyday life through art,” said the designer.
