After a break in their relationship, linked to the scandal of a seedy advertisement, Kim Kardashian becomes the official ambassador for Balenciaga. She thus joins Nicole Kidman and Isabelle Huppert, other stars serving the House under the artistic direction of Demna.
On Monday, January 22, Kim Kardashian officially became an ambassador for Balenciaga. She joins other stars representing the House belonging to the Kering group, namely Michelle Yeoh, Isabelle Huppert, and Nicole Kidman, the latter since December 2023. “For several years, Balenciaga’s creations have been part of my many looks. This historic fashion house embraces modernity, craftsmanship, and adopts an innovative approach to creation under the artistic direction of Demna,” Kim Kardashian said in a statement.
A Logical Collaboration
Her arrival at the Met Gala in September 2021 marked the beginning of a close collaboration with Balenciaga for the businesswoman and model. Dressed in black, literally from head to toe, Kim K arrived on the arm of Balenciaga’s artistic director, Demna Gvasalia. She then walked for the House during the Fashion Week in July 2022.
Relations with Balenciaga became complicated after the controversial campaign of November 2022, featuring children holding BDSM plush toys. Kim Kardashian then announced she was “reevaluating” their partnership and seeking explanations.
The 43-year-old mother is one of the most followed personalities with over 364 million followers on Instagram. Already, in February 2022, she had been named the face of Balenciaga’s Le Cagole bag, sales of which had been boosted following the reality TV star’s Instagram post posing with the fluorescent green bag. Immediately, the demand was tripled for the bag and quintupled for the leopard print coats.
Balenciaga continues to bet on essential figures and thus chooses Kim Kardashian, who has already proven herself as an ambassador.
