Accor, the world leader in augmented hospitality, has just signed an innovative strategic partnership with the multi-national insurance firm AXA to offer medical assistance to the customers of the 5,000 Accor hotels worldwide, as of next July. This major player in the tourism industry, with a portfolio of 5,000 hotels and residences in 110 destinations, is trying to reassure its guests at the dawn of the summer season.

After launching a label with Bureau Veritas to reassure about hygiene in hotels, Accor is calling on the international group specializing in insurance, Axa, to give future travelers greater confidence as summer approaches.

Indeed, Europe’s leading hotel group signed a strategic partnership with Axa last Friday, May 15 to benefit from its innovations in telemedicine and free access to medical teleconsultations, according to a common press release from the two groups.

From July 2020, this agreement will enable Accor Group guests to benefit from the best treatments by accessing the medical offers of AXA Partners, AXA’s international entity specializing in assistance services, travel insurance and credit insurance.

Customers will also have access to AXA’s extensive medical networks, which include tens of thousands of licensed healthcare professionals. As a result, hotels will now be able to provide the best possible customer service (language, specialist, etc.) in the 110 destinations where Accor operates.

Accor is thus preparing for the rebound in business following the Covid-19 epidemic and the reopening of its hotels at a time when more and more countries are announcing that they are gradually easing lockdown restrictions.

This new medical service also complements a more global recovery plan, and is part of the reinforced health and prevention protocols implemented by the Group, particularly through its ALLSAFE Cleanliness label, in anticipation of the reopening of its establishments in the various regions of the world.

In an increasingly complex environment, our 300,000 team members on the ground will be able to assist our guests and ensure their safety during their stays, turning our hotels into shelters. This initiative combined with our ALLSAFE enhanced hygiene protocols will be key to rediscover the Love of Travel in the 5000 Accor properties around the world.” said Sébastien Bazin, Chairman and CEO of Accor.

For AXA, this partnership represents a unique opportunity to strengthen the firm’s payer to partner strategy, which aims to provide innovative services to its customers, notably in health.

Partnering with Accor, a worldwide leader in hospitality, is a unique opportunity to enlarge people’s access to our healthcare expertise and solutions. As we are facing an unprecedented health crisis with Covid-19, this ambition has never been more relevant.” stated Thomas Buberl, CEO of AXA.

A partnership that therefore makes perfect sense in the current pandemic context and benefits all parties.

The unequalled medical offer will enable travellers to enjoy their future stay with more peace of mind and could therefore boost tourism and save the summer season.
