BMW feels the impact of tariffs as Lamborghini confirms profitability in the first quarter

The first quarter of 2026 highlights two very different trends in the luxury automotive industry. On one hand, Lamborghini continues its profitable growth thanks to the success of its hybrid lineup. On the other, BMW is suffering a sharp decline in profits, hurt by U.S. tariffs and increasingly aggressive Chinese competition.

 

An Italian success, a German disappointment…The fundamentals are solid for Lamborghini, which ended the quarter with an operating margin of over 23%, while BMW saw its net profit drop sharply amid a challenging international environment.

 

Lamborghini remains on solid ground despite a decline

 

The Italian automaker posted revenue of 863 million euros in the first quarter of 2026, a solid result despite a slight decline of 3.6%, following a record-breaking first quarter in 2025. Operating profit stood at €200 million and the operating margin at 23.1%, two figures that are also satisfactory for the group.

 

Between January and March, Lamborghini delivered 2,620 vehicles worldwide. The EMEA region remains its main market with 1,398 units sold. The Americas follow with 711 vehicles, ahead of the Asia-Pacific region with 511 deliveries.
