After a distinguished career in the luxury sector, primarily at leading brands within the LVMH group (Fendi, Christian Dior, and then Louis Vuitton), the executive has been appointed CEO of the German premium luggage specialist, the latest subsidiary of the luxury industry leader.
Following Alexandre Arnault, CEO of Rimowa from 2017 to 2021, his successor Hugues Bonnet-Masimbert, who was appointed commercial director at Louis Vuitton last March, is also packing his bags.
On June 1, Beatrice Monguidi will take the reins of the German premium luggage specialist, founded in 1898 by Paul Morszeck in Cologne and acquired in 2016, with 80% owned by LVMH and the remaining 20% held by the founder’s family.
A career largely shaped by LVMH
A 1996 graduate of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy, she has since spent much of her career with the luxury industry leader.
After starting her career at Max Mara from 1998 to 2002 and then at Dolce & Gabbana for a year, Beatrice Monguidi joined Valentino from 2005 to 2007 before moving to Fendi and, thus, the LVMH group. She remained there for over twelve years, notably as Retail Director for France and Switzerland and later as President of Fendi Japan.
After a return to Valentino from 2019 to 2022, serving as Director of Distribution for Europe and Director of Commercial Excellence, she returned to the LVMH fold. She joined, this time for two years, its flagship house Christian Dior Couture, as Director of the Men’s Division, with a focus on innovation and the consumer.
Inspiring Leadership
In April 2024, she was appointed EMEA President of Louis Vuitton. A role in which she distinguished herself through “inspiring, people-centered leadership, as well as her unwavering commitment to fostering an environment where talent is valued and promoted,” LVMH noted in a statement.
Pietro Beccari, CEO of LVMH Fashion Group and Louis Vuitton, thanked “Beatrice for her significant contribution to Louis Vuitton.”
“As a leader, she has demonstrated a unique ability to bring teams together and align them around shared ambitions within an extremely diverse and complex EMEA ecosystem,” he added. “Her sense of community and her dedication to talent development make her the ideal leader to carry forward Rimowa’s vision.”
Key Challenge
“The appointment of Beatrice Monguidi to lead RIMOWA illustrates a strategy now central to LVMH: deploying executives from Louis Vuitton to high-potential brands to accelerate their operational execution,” comments the media outlet Meet & Match. With extensive EMEA experience in highly complex commercial environments, Monguidi arrives at a pivotal moment for Rimowa, which is undergoing a transition from a travel brand to a lifestyle mobility platform. Behind this appointment lies a key challenge: maintaining the desirability of an iconic product while expanding its growth territory amid volatility in travel retail and the normalization of global demand. ”
Rimowa’s revenue, which is part of LVMH’s “Fashion & Leather Goods” division, is not broken down.
