Donald Trump continues to be held back in his tariff policy

After the Supreme Court, despite its Republican majority, ruled his tariffs invalid, the Trump administration unveiled a new 10% global surcharge on February 24. But its legal validity is also being challenged by some 20 US states.

 

The customs duty saga may only be in its first season.

 

While opponents of the Trump surcharges are stepping up their appeals for the suspension and reimbursement of these surcharges, the US President has no intention of throwing in the towel just yet…

 

The IEEPA (International Emergency Economic Powers Act) is unsuitable

We remember that on February 20, the US Supreme Court invalidated most of the US tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. These were the so-called “reciprocal” tariffs imposed on almost all products imported into the US, with the exception of those targeting specific sectors such as automobiles, steel, and pharmaceuticals.
