Globally, caution prevails in financial markets this Thursday, mainly due to the decline in commodity prices, although the ECB’s monetary policy decision could influence prices.
On the Paris Stock Exchange, the CAC 40 index began to recover at the opening, gaining 0.53%, while Frankfurt remained fairly stable at +0.09%. However, London saw a slight decline of -0.37%.
The ECB plays on European markets
The reason for the continued wait-and-see attitude in Europe is that investors are analyzing a series of mixed corporate results, particularly in the banking and energy sectors, while preparing for the European Central Bank’s monetary policy decision.
The ECB is expected to keep interest rates unchanged, but comments from its officials will be closely scrutinized, especially as the latest data has shown a faster-than-expected slowdown in inflation amid a strengthening euro against the dollar.
