French Bloom, the brand of fruity, non-alcoholic sparkling wine, is now served in Air France’s La Première cabin.
A champion of the NoLo consumption movement (which favors alcohol-free or low-alcohol drinks), French Bloom made headlines in the fall when it signed a ten-year distribution agreement with the Formula 1 racing world.
At the start of this year and in the midst of “Dry January” (editor’s note: a month of sobriety), the brand is no longer just present on the ground: it is also in the air. This feat was made possible by Air France, which chose to feature its sparkling rosé wine on the menu of the gourmet experience in its La Première cabin.
More specifically, it was Xavier Thuizat, France’s Best Sommelier 2022 and the airline’s head sommelier, who was keen to enhance the non-alcoholic options available on board. This revamp of the offering comes at a time when a growing proportion of the younger generation is reducing or even eliminating their consumption of alcoholic beverages altogether.
Sparkling rosé wine with 0.0% alcohol
Unveiled last March by Air France, the new and luxurious La Première cabin offers travelers departing from Paris-Charles de Gaulle to Dubai, Los Angeles, Miami, New York-JFK, Sao Paulo, and Tokyo-Haneda a truly multi-sensory experience worthy of the most sophisticated hotel standards.
This “in-flight” suite offers its customers a major first in terms of gastronomy: the option to order a non-alcoholic sparkling wine called French Bloom.
This new kind of rosé wine is a light, low-calorie drink. This sparkling wine is nonetheless made from a precise blend of Chardonnay, complemented by a touch of Pinot Noir, with 0.0% alcohol and 100% natural ingredients. Reconciling the pleasure of wine with health concerns, it is free of colorings, preservatives, sulfites, and added sugars.
Finally, despite the absence of alcohol, this French Bloom rosé wine promises a taste experience worthy of interest. “The nose reveals a beautiful complexity, with captivating notes of pomegranate and verbena. On the palate, La Première customers will be pleasantly surprised by the elegance and finesse of the bubbles; its persistence on notes of red fruits makes it a real treat,” says Xavier Thuizat, Air France’s head sommelier.
Rapid expansion
Founded in 2019 by Constance Jablonski, Maggie Frerejean-Taittinger (formerly of the Michelin Guide) and her husband Rodolphe Frerejean-Taittinger, a Champagne producer, French Bloom is now establishing itself as a benchmark in the booming segment of premium non-alcoholic sparkling wines.
Present in more than sixty countries, in 2024 the brand entered into a strategic partnership with Moët Hennessy, the LVMH group’s first investment in the NoLo universe. For three consecutive years, the non-alcoholic sparkling wine house has held the title of World’s Best Alcohol-Free Sparkling.
Its association with the world leader in luxury goods has given French Bloom a prestigious reputation, to the point where it now features on the menus of the most prestigious Parisian hotels and bars, such as the Hôtel Meurice, Le Bristol Paris, Le Plaza Athénée, Madame Rêve, Café Lapérouse, and Le Scribe Paris Opéra.
