Each embodying the excellence of French niche perfumery within the Sprecher Berrier group, Parfums de Marly and Initio Parfums Privés have promoted Patrice Béliard, a beauty expert from Shiseido and Estée Lauder, to their management team. His predecessor, Julien Sausset, increased sales tenfold in five years and attracted investor Advent International, which now holds a majority stake in the company.
In a favorable context for high-end niche fragrances, Parfums de Marly and Initio Parfums Privés plan to flourish even further.
The two French houses, launched in 2009 and 2015 by Julien Sprecher, executive chairman of the Sprecher Berrier group, have just appointed a new CEO, Patrice Béliard.
“The time seemed right to pass on the baton,” said his predecessor, Julien Sausset, who said he was “immensely proud of what we have accomplished.”
The bar is set high
And indeed, he has set the bar high for his successor, who took up his new position on October 1.
Arriving in 2016, Julien Sausset has spectacularly boosted the two young companies, tenfolding their consolidated retail sales in five years, which are likely to reach $900 million in 2026. Each has succeeded in finding a positioning that “speaks” to consumers. Les Parfums de Marly pays tribute to the Château de Marly and the 18th century, while Initio Parfums Privés offers an approach based on advances in neurocosmetics and the emotional impact of a fragrance.
