Givenchy: Sarah Burton showcases timeless femininity in her first campaign

Arriving in September 2024 and praised for her inaugural fashion show in early March, Sarah Burton today unveils her first advertising campaign for Givenchy. With an all-female cast, the former right-hand woman of couturier Alexander McQueen has created a resolutely couture image for the LVMH group’s fashion house, captured by photographer Collier Schorr.

She was undoubtedly the most eagerly awaited designer at Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2025-26.

The 51-year-old British designer was immersed in the couture world of Lee Alexander McQueen, founder of the eponymous fashion house, but also her former boss and mentor.

At the helm of Givenchy’s creative direction since September 2024—a path that the gothic designer himself had taken—Sarah Burton had not yet brought her work to life through a fashion campaign.

That has now been remedied with the Givenchy Fall/Winter 2025-26 collection.

Multigenerational casting

The beauty of all women inspires me, including that of my team,” Sarah Burton said of the campaign in the press release. “I wanted to immortalize the brilliant women I work with among the models, authentic moments where everyone works together,” she added.

The casting gives pride of place to a multigenerational cast where models rub shoulders with other professions. The first category consists of South Sudanese Adut Akech (25), Italian Vittoria Ceretti (27), Kenyan Nyaduola Gabriel, American Kaia Gerber (23), French-Czech-Italian Eva Herzigova (52), French model Emeline Hoareau, and Chinese model Liu Wen (37).

They are joined by two unusual personalities: Camilla Nickerson (59), Sarah Burton’s long-time stylist, and Lucia Pieroni, makeup artist. These two English women also worked on developing the campaign.

The photos, taken by Collier Schorr, show less posed silhouettes, in line with the spirit of Sarah Burton’s first show for the LVMH group’s fashion house. The Fall/Winter 2025-26 collection is characterized by defined shoulders, curved sleeves, and a cinched waist.

The composition plays on the familiar codes of luxury and, even more so, of the fashion house founded by Hubert de Givenchy in 1952, namely black and white treatment, plain white/gray backgrounds, and barely visible silhouettes and products.

The whole thing has the merit of putting the “team behind the camera” in the spotlight, while showing a beautiful demonstration of sisterhood.

As for what will follow her inaugural collection, we will have to wait and see at the next Paris Fashion Week, the Spring/Summer 2026 women’s fashion show, which will take place from Monday, September 29 to Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
