What can you take away from Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week?

The big fashion marathon was in full swing at the start of the year, with men’s collections followed by couture and then women’s lines. From Prada to Dolce & Gabbana to Ermenegildo Zegna, the men took to the catwalks of Milan, proudly displaying Italian elegance.

Held from 17 to 21 January 2025, Men’s Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2025-2026 celebrated some of the biggest names in Italian fashion, despite the absence of several iconic houses, including Gucci, Fendi and Moschino. Here’s a look back at five inspirational shows for next season.

‘Unbroken Instincts’ is the name of the men’s autumn-winter 2025-2026 collection by design duo Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. The line emphasises the idea of dressing instinctively, freely, almost casually, while remaining sophisticated. ‘In the instinctive, a new refinement and an intimate, wild elegance can be revealed. Unintentional contrasts give rise to unexpected and seductive combinations, the body dresses itself by freeing itself from the constraints of reason’ explained the designers. The result was coats with animal-skin collars cut brutally or adorned with animal prints, sometimes worn with nothing underneath as if they had been put on in a hurry. These cohabited with layered down jackets, pyjama trousers worn with boots, frayed knitwear, leather ensembles and a multitude of protective symbols, such as four-leaf clovers, anchors and flowers for a bucolic touch.

Dolce&Gabbana

The Dolce & Gabbana models paraded in front of an array of photographers under the glare of crackling flashbulbs. Once again, fashion has a message. In this case, it’s about looking your best for every moment of everyday life, not just for a glamorous evening out. A style that’s always impeccable, because you could be photographed at any moment, followed by a horde of paparazzi. A long coat with a big fur collar, a dinner jacket with a satin shirt, a leopard-print coat, double-belted suit trousers, a dandy three-piece ensemble… The basics of the irreproachable man when it comes to ultra-elegant clothes. And even when you’re on the more casual side, cargo trousers are impeccably paired with a sleeveless leather jacket adorned with white hairpiece, baggy jeans are paired with a plum sequined blazer, and couture jogging pants merge with elegant shoes and a large fur coat and patchwork of military-style fabrics. Designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana revealed a man with influence who, through his sartorial power, knew he could find himself in the magazines at any moment.

Emporio Armani

For its autumn-winter 2025-2026 collection, Emporio Armani is offering a line that celebrates materials and textures. After a sporty breeze emanating from the first looks, the show moved on to more chic outfits. Three-piece suits in velvet, ribbed lurex knits, animal prints, corduroy trousers, leather blazers and trench coats were all perfectly cut, while the play of textiles added depth to the silhouettes. The colours are classic: brown, olive green, beige and blue. The accessories have been finely chosen, with a fine collection of berets, small hats, ties, fine scarves and leather gloves. A seductive man who modernises the codes of Italian elegance, as designer Giorgio Armani knows so well.

Dunhill

A sailor jacket with a revisited collar, aviator sunglasses, a fine turtleneck scarf, an elegant scarf, a knitted jumper over the shoulders, corduroy trousers… The Dunhill man by designer Simon Holloway respects the autumn/winter season with luxurious materials, between wool and cashmere. The tones are in harmony with the season: charcoal, taupe and bronze. These are the kind of outfits you can wear to work or to dinner at the Four Seasons. The must-have? Wear these elegant pieces with slim trainers.

Zegna

Strong pieces, monochromes and superimpositions are the order of the day at Zegna. The fashion house, artistically led by Alessandro Sartori, presented a winter collection in classic colours for the season, including brown, sand, black and white. Of particular interest are the jumper adorned with a graphic wool pattern, the jumper worn as a shoulder piece over another jumper, the light red checked polo shirt, and the three-quarter sleeve jumper paired with warm gloves, a key element of the line. The elegant cuts and modern combinations should appeal to a young clientele that relies on details to stand out from the crowd.
