The Burberry & Vivienne Westwood collaboration has just been unveiled in a special campaign.

The collection is the first collaboration by Burberry under the direction of its creative director, Riccardo Tisci – according to the British brand, Riccardo Tisci, Vivienne Westwood and Andreas Kronthaler “are united by a common vision to support and promote Cool Earth, a UK-based non-profit organization that works with local communities to stop deforestation and climate change“.

The centrepiece is an oversized t-shirt dedicated to the charity Cool Earth, with an handwritten message from Vivienne Westwood herself. She will also customize four exclusive items from the auctioned collection to support the cause.

Riccardo Tisci says that Vivienne Westwood was “one of the first creators to make me dream of doing this job” – according to him, the British designer is “a rebel, a punk in her unique representation of the British style, which has inspired so many of us“.

Chanel inspired by Egypt in its Metiers d’Art show

The temple of Egyptian Dendur, exhibited at the Met, was used as a setting for the 2018/2019 Chanel Métiers d’Art show. “Egyptian civilization has always fascinated me: I am inspired by an idea, the one I have,” explains Karl Lagerfeld in the press release issued by the house of rue Cambon at the end of the show.

Patinated, cracked, flamboyant, sparkling, gold is omnipresent and adorns the tweed, which is available in white, beige or black and is printed on materials such as leather.

The latter plays with appearances in its crocodile, iguana or python effects, even though the house on rue Cambon announced this week that it will not use exotic skins anymore. Plasma collars also impose this ancient Egyptian influence on slender silhouettes with multiple details paying a precious tribute to the different workshops of these famous craftsmen.

Among them, an emblem of this fascinating civilization: the beetle made by the Goossens house after a mould made by its founder, Robert Goossens.
