For the past few months, Europe has been witnessing an epidemic rebound with a surge of Covid-19 cases and the new wave of the Omicron variant. This epidemic episode is once again disrupting certain events, including one of the events of the year : Fashion Week.

The whole of Europe is witnessing the fifth wave of Covid-19, with governments taking restrictive measures to contain and slow the progress of the fifth wave. Indeed, this new crisis threatens the organisation of physical events such as Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2022-2023.

Men’s Fashion Week will kick off this Friday, January 14, until January 23, 2022 in Milan. Due to the pandemic, Italian designer Giorgio Armani announced on Monday 4 January the cancellation of the Emporio Armani and Giorgio Armani men’s shows. Other brands followed suit: for example, JW Anderson replaced its physical show with a digital show of the men’s collections.

Milan Fashion Week is followed by Men’s Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2022-2023 in Paris from 18 January to 23 January 2022. However, of the 77 events on the official calendar for Men’s Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2022-2023, only 16 brands will hold physical shows in the presence of an audience, including Dior, Hermès and Loewe. “The formats depend on the evolution of the health situation and the measures taken by the public authorities,” said the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Masculine.

Designer Yohji Yamamoto has chosen to replace his Paris show with a show of the autumn-winter 2022-23 collection in his Aoyama boutique in Tokyo, which will be broadcast in a digital format.

For the first time, Louis Vuitton will present its men’s collections on 20 January, without its designer Virgil Abloh who died of a rare disease last November. Paris will also be punctuated from January 24 to January 27, 2022 by the spring-summer 2022 haute couture Fashion Week shows, with 29 brands presenting their shows, including Chanel, Fendi, Valentino, Schiaparelli and others.

London Fashion Week has also unveiled its programme, which will take place from 18 to 22 February 2022, mixing physical and virtual shows. More than 70 brands are expected to take part, including that of designer Nensi Dojaka, winner of the LVMH 2021 Prize.
