This Friday, “La Federation de la Haute Couture et de la mode” has just announced its objective to organize the fashion shows of this summer. And goodbye digital, back to the physical shows! This decision should take effect from the next men’s fashion season, next June.

Since 2020, the global pandemic has turned the world of fashion and luxury upside down, particularly Paris Fashion Week. The fashion houses were forced to reinvent themselves by presenting their collections in digital format. Last September, it was possible to organise shows in “phygital” mode, until the announcement of the second containment.

“La Federation de la Haute Couture et de la mode” announced the good news on Friday : the public will be able to return to attend the shows organized by the brands. This firm, which oversees events such as Paris Fashion Week, is asserting Paris’ role as the capital of fashion and intends to restore the soul of French fashion to the catwalks by returning to physicality.

This federation has about a hundred members, including prestigious brands such as Elie Saab, Dior, Chanel, Marine Serre and many others. The federation includes three trade associations (Haute Couture, Women’s Fashion, Men’s Fashion).

In view of the current health situation, the fashion shows planned in physics from June onwards will still have to respect and comply with the health protocol laid down by the government.

The FCMH emphasised this point on Friday in a statement, “Fashion houses will be able to organise fashion shows and physical presentations. Depending on the evolution of the health situation, the physical events will be able to welcome guests according to a specific health protocol, in compliance with the measures decreed by the public authorities.

No details have yet been provided on the number of brands that will hold their shows in public. The provisional calendar for the men’s season will be published in the week of 24 May.

Nevertheless, the FHCM indicates that all the men’s shows, as well as the haute couture season, will have the possibility to be viewed on their website: “Their live broadcast, as well as all the digital events listed in the official calendar, will be highlighted on the Paris Fashion Week platform, and will benefit from the international amplification network of our partners”, it states.

“The return of physical shows is very good news. Our industry needs it. It’s hard to know how many brands will take on the task of organising such an event, but at least there’s light at the end of the tunnel. I imagine the big houses have been looking at two scenarios, live and video. We’ll see how things evolve,” adds Ralph Toledano, President of the FHCM.

The appointments are therefore made for the next men’s fashion season in Paris. It will take place from 22 June to 27 June. As for Paris Fashion Week, it will organise its Haute Couture season from 4 July to 8 July 2021.
