Tax Free World Exhibition Cannes: the annual duty free exhibition attracts wines and spirits

TFWA is the annual international meeting place for the duty free industry in Cannes. It will be held again, from October 2 to 6, 2022.

The TFWA show aims to bring together, from October 2 to 6, 2022, the major players in the Travel Retail industry. At the same time, this year it will also host the TFWA Innovation Lab, from October 1 to 4. This new initiative brings together some 30 specialists in digital solutions and mobile technologies, sustainability and CSR, traveler services and in-store design and research.

This morning, the large auditorium of the Palais des Festivals in Cannes was once again filled with delegates from around the world. The TFWA World Exhibition and Conference is a must-attend event in the tourism retail calendar. And the organizers have promised an outstanding program for the 2022 vintage.

TFWA President Juul-Mortensen will be joined on stage today by speakers including David McWilliams, assistant professor of global economics at Trinity College Dublin Business School, and Raymond Cloosterman, founder and CEO of Rituals. The conference will look at life in the metaverse with the help of digital technology expert Swan Sit, operating partner of AF Ventures, and former global head of digital marketing for Nike, Revlon and Estée Lauder.

Juul-Mortensen enthuses, “With the very positive response we’ve had, we’re confident that, while the scale of this year’s event won’t quite match pre-Covid levels, we’re not far off.”

The future of spirits in travel retail

The 2022 event will also see the return of the TFWA workshops, with two sessions taking place Tuesday, Oct. 4 (The Airport Forum) and Wednesday, Oct. 5 (Innovation in Action).

The sessions will be held in Studio I5, and will offer guests the opportunity to gain insight into the evolution of the passenger journey as well as the future of airport retail. “More than 30 percent of the companies that have already confirmed their participation in the event are in the wine and spirits category, with both large brands and small companies represented,” explains Juul-Mortensen.

He adds, “The TFWA World Exhibition and Conference is an ideal opportunity for friends and colleagues in the industry to meet and learn about the latest product initiatives. It’s the perfect environment for spirits and wine brands to express themselves. It’s about business, but also about socializing. That’s what makes this event the ideal meeting place for the spirits industry.”
