Ponant, the French cruise line, inaugurates a new era with the launch of the ultra-luxury catamaran Spirit of Ponant in June 2024. This innovative vessel, which offers a personalized, eco-friendly cruising experience, will make its debut in Corsica before sailing to the Seychelles.
Cruise line Ponant marks a new milestone in maritime luxury. The French cruise flagship, owned by Artemis (holding company of the Pinault family) since 2015, has announced the launch of its ultra-luxury catamaran, the Spirit of Ponant, for June 2024.
This vessel, a Lagoon Seventy 7 equipped with six cabins, will be inaugurated for its first sailing crossing in July from Corsica, in Bonifacio, before sailing to the Seychelles in winter 2025.
Thanks to its small size – only 24 meters – this latest-generation catamaran offers anchorages in unexplored and wild places, while maintaining the company’s legendary level of service.
“With this size of boat, we can go much further in tailoring,” said Hervé Gastinel, president of the French company. “The aim is to attract sailing enthusiasts at an earlier stage, who will then be able to discover our full range of products and services.”
Luxury maritime pioneer
Accommodating up to 12 passengers, the Spirit of Ponant offers an ultra-personalized cruising experience. Guests enjoy all-inclusive service, including Ponant’s signature gastronomy, a selection of wines and cocktails, cabin service and nautical activities (paddle, wakeboarding, snorkeling…).
A dedicated crew, comprising a captain, chef, deckhand and cabin boy, ensures onboard service that meets the high standards of 5-star yachting.
From a regulatory point of view, the Spirit of Ponant is classified as a private yacht. This allows customers who privatize the ship to define their itinerary according to their preferences and the recommendations of the Captain.
“Our passengers will enjoy a true seafaring experience, able to interact with the captain and create the voyage that exactly matches their desires,” sums up Hervé Gastinel, who describes the new vessel as a manifestation of the company’s pioneering spirit.
The Spirit of Ponant is also the first of its kind to offer 6 cabins. “This ship is unique in the market. We’re the only company on the market to offer capacity for more than 10 passengers,” says Olivier Narcy, EMEA Sales Director and General Manager of the new project. “This type of vessel is traditionally equipped with 4 cabins. So it’s very interesting in terms of price positioning.”
