The Italian competition authority has announced the launch of investigations against LVMH, its brands Sephora Collection and Benefit Cosmetics, for carelessly selling and promoting adult cosmetics to a vulnerable target audience of children and teenagers.
Clearly, the Italian authorities are not going easy on the luxury giants.
Following the scandal involving the exploitation of workers by luxury subcontractors, they are now focusing on protecting minors from the use of cosmetics that are dangerous and unnecessary for them.
LVMH, Sephora Collection, and Benefit Cosmetics in the crosshairs
The AGCM, Italy’s competition authority, announced on Friday, March 27, that it had opened investigations into LVMH, its beauty retailer Sephora (specifically its Sephora Collection line), and its brand Benefit Cosmetics, for promoting “the early use of adult cosmetics by children and adolescents.”
