February 22, the founding day of Saudi Arabia, will also be the opening day of the brand new Shangri-La Hotel in Jeddah.
Today’s opening, Feb. 22, will celebrate the first Foundation Day of Saudi Arabia, as well as the much-anticipated launch of the Shangri-La Group.
Shangri-La Hotels makes its debut in Saudi Arabia with 220 new accommodations, three restaurants, extensive wellness facilities and a kids club. The opening of Shangri-La Jeddah marks the dawn of a new era for Saudi Arabia as a leisure destination, welcoming discerning travelers to a location with breathtaking views of the Red Sea and aiming to become one of the city’s most dynamic destinations.
The hotel is located close to the city’s main shopping areas and within walking distance of the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, home of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the famous circuit that hosts the Formula 1 championship.
Located in the exclusive Burj Assila, a 64-story, 260-meter-high architectural icon, the hotel is part of a 60,015-square-meter, two-billion Saudi riyal development project that also houses 116 state-of-the-art Burj Assila residences available for sale. Committed to supporting the Saudi Vision 2030, the hotel employs approximately 50% Saudis.

The 220 accommodations, including 148 deluxe rooms and 55 suites, as well as 17 serviced apartments, offer views of the Red Sea and the Jeddah skyline through large picture windows. Shangri-La Jeddah’s restaurants will blend traditional flavors, local influences and modern techniques. The hotel is also home to the Spa at Shangri-La, which offers a bespoke panel by the award-winning experts at Natura Bissé, a sauna and Jacuzzi, as well as a steam room and several treatment rooms. The 25-meter outdoor pool with spectacular sea views is located on the seventh floor, next to numerous recreational facilities.
