The luxury giant announced this Friday the appointments of Bérangère Ruchat to the Group’s Senior Executive Committee, and Bram Schot to the Board of Directors. This will further strengthen its leadership…

The Swiss group Richemont announced on Friday two important appointments to its management bodies. Bram (Abraham) Schot, a serial executive and automotive expert, has been elected to the Board of Directors, while Bérangère Ruchat, Richemont’s Director of Sustainable Development, has been appointed to the Group’s Senior Executive Committee.

High level of experience

Bram Schot’s appointment is, however, conditional on the approval of its shareholders at the end of the next general meeting, to be held in September. The 61-year-old Dutchman has spent a good part of his career with German car manufacturers. With more than 30 years of experience, he has held various management positions, including CEO, at DaimlerChrysler, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen Group. His one-year stint at AUDI AG as Chairman of the Board of Management led him to manage brands such as Ducati and Lamborghini. Today, Bram Schot is also a member of the Safety, Environment and Sustainability Committee of the Anglo-Dutch oil group Shell. In addition, he is a senior advisor to various companies, including the Carlyle Group, and a professor of leadership and entrepreneurship at Bocconi University in Italy.

Bram Schot “brings unparalleled managerial experience and expertise in customer focus, technology, sustainability, innovation and risk management to help us achieve our goal of long-term profitable, responsible and sustainable growth”, said Johann Rupert, group chairman.

Immediate effect

Bérangère Ruchat will join the Group Executive Committee with immediate effect. She has worked at Firmenich in the past, already as Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) and was awarded in 2016 for her work in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the WBCSD’s Leading Women Awards. Having become Richemont’s first-ever CSO a year ago, her appointment to Richemont’s Senior Executive Committee recognizes her deep expertise in sustainability and collaborative work in business, government and NGOs. “Bérangère has made a significant contribution to strengthening Richemont’s sustainability strategy,” said Johann Rupert.
