Prada plans to open its first independent café-restaurant in Asia on March 31st. This project, located on the second floor of the historic Rong Zhai mansion in Shanghai, has been entrusted to the successful Hong Kong director Wong Kar-Wai.
In the Mood… for food
After Armani in Beijing last February, it is the turn of another Italian brand to open its café-restaurant in Shanghai, namely Prada.
Located in downtown Shanghai, in Jing’An district, the Rong Zhai Mansion, owned and restored by Prada in 2017, is both a 1918’s historic building and an artistic space that has already hosted numerous cultural events for the brand.
Capitalizing on its patronage activities with cinema and heritage – restoration of major cinematographic works including Federico Fellini’s Dolce Vita and the Trevi Fountain – the Italian luxury house has chosen to call on a native of the Pearl of the Orient: director Wong Kar-Wai (In The Mood for Love, Chungking Express, 2046…).
