Potel & Chabot, a subsidiary of the Accor group, has been chosen by the Paris Commercial Court to take over the ailing Dalloyau. An ambitious recovery plan should enable the luxury caterer to shine again.
Dalloyau, the doyen of luxury gastronomy, has been saved by its younger sibling, the high-end caterer and event organizer Potel & Chabot, a subsidiary of the Accor group.
On October 29, the Paris Commercial Court named Potel & Chabot as the buyer of Dalloyau, for a purchase price of 3.3 million euros.
Founded in Versailles in 1682, Dalloyau, supplier to Louis XIV and inventor of the famous Opéra cake, had been losing its lustre for several years.
Deconfiture
The downturn began in 2010, in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. Faced with a drastic fall in its receptions business, the Dalloyau family sold half its capital and supervisory board seats to the Perceva Capital fund.
