Fashion Week will take place this year in Paris from January 19 to 24, 2021. However, given the latest developments in the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Federation of Haute Couture and Fashion announced that it has decided, in consultation with the Prefecture of Police, to organize a digital program for the presentation of the men’s autumn-winter 2021-2022 collections.
Indeed, due to the current health context and the restrictive measures put in place, the events organized by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode (FHCM) will be unveiled on a specific digital platform. 71 houses will thus present their fall-winter 2021-22 men’s collection in a digital format.
It will therefore be the role of the major brands to show creativity to preserve the interest of their shows, especially since they will still be able to organize real shows that will be broadcast live. The only condition? That they take place behind closed doors.
From January 19th to 24th, designers will have to be more creative than ever! The goal: reinterpret the traditional codes of the runway shows and honor the House’s codes while conveying a narrative in the digital universe.
Starting with Louis Vuitton, for example, which was able to accompany its runway show with an alternative: a pop-up store “Louis Vuitton Walk in the Park” featuring LV Trainer sneakers in a futuristic atmosphere, as well as funny characters giving a concert on the rooftops.
“Brands are also authorized to organize meetings and presentations, respecting the limit of the number of people present at the same time in a given space. In France, we are always under the influence of sanitary measures, we must not forget that. This is a decision that comes from the government and the prefecture, and we will respect it, of course”, confided the executive vice-president of the Federation, Pascal Morand.
According to Pascal Morand, all physical presentations of the Dior and Louis Vuitton collections have been replaced by live/pre-recorded presentations, broadcast on the Federation’s online hub, created in partnership with the research and data analysis company, Launchmetrics.
This platform will also provide access to editorial content: interviews, behind-the-scenes reels, and commentary by experts from the media, houses, organizations and cultural foundations, as well as brand videos and seasonal images; brands are offered numerous alternatives such as the possibility of putting online newsrooms or showroom mode.
Men’s fashion brands will therefore be at the rendezvous for this first fashion week in 2021. Among them, the largest such as Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Jean Paul Gaultier, Dior, etc … But also Issey Miyake, Loewe, Paul Smith, Isabel Marrant …
It should be remembered that fashion weeks usually attract thousands of people from all over the world and play an important role in the Parisian economy. The Fédération de la haute couture et de la mode estimates that 1.2 billion euros in revenue is generated each year within this framework.

As the pandemic continues and the Swiss watch industry suffers more and more, a new destabilising factor is gaining in importance : protectionism.
The current situation linked to the health crisis, with the closure of shops and now the rise in protectionism, poses a serious threat to Swiss watchmaking. The massive drop in exports is therefore a serious concern for the sector, particularly in terms of employment.
Last September, Switzerland’s third largest export industry recorded 1553 fewer jobs than in the previous year (-2.6%), with a total of 57,750 employees.
