The global Covid-19 pandemic has not failed to disrupt the entertainment world, in this case Fashion Week. After an eighteen-month wait, New York finally got to host the famous show again to present the Spring/Summer 2022 collection.
Since the health crisis, Fashion Week has been forced to adapt and innovate in order to present the new collections of the brands. The last two editions in September 2020 and February 2021 had to take place remotely, breaking the charm of the usual event where the atmosphere can be felt. And for this “return” edition, New York has returned to its physical shows.
The small dishes in the big for the occasion
The designers took advantage of this reconciliation with the physical shows to choose the place where their models will parade. This is the case of designer LaQuan Smith, who has seen things through to the end by having his models walk in a major New York City landmark: the Empire State Building.
As usual, New York Fashion Week ended with a show by Tom Ford, who chairs the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America). The CFDA aims to promote fashion as a branch of American art and culture. With all the metallic coloured pieces, Tom Ford once again had the opportunity to make a mark and was able to pass on his message symbolising the return of the physical New York fashion show: “The party must go on”.
This New York Fashion Week did not disappoint in its long-awaited comeback: success was the order of the day. The next London Fashion Week should also keep all its promises. See you from 17 to 21 September.
