Every year, New York opens the fashion week. From September 9 to 14, the biggest ready-to-wear brands walk the catwalks of the American fashion city.

 

Twice a year, in September and January, New York marks the beginning of Fashion Week, before London, Milan and Paris.

 

The spring-summer 2023 collections, which will be presented during this global fashion month, are eagerly awaited by professionals and fashion enthusiasts.

 

After the parenthesis of the “Fashion Web”, the New York Fashion Week takes its place and its size. The great American brands, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs or Tom Ford, are at the appointment. But also the Italian House Fendi.

Fendi draws the curtain

 

The show of the famous transalpine brand, organized on September 9, was the opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its timeless bag Baguette. Kim Jones, the artistic director of Fendi, called on Marc Jacobs (his former colleague and friend at Louis Vuitton), and the jeweler Tiffany’s to reinvent the famous iconic bag.

 

The “street walk” was the height of the catwalk: big names in fashion such as Anna Wintour, Lilly Allen, Sarah Jessica Parker or Kate Moss, came to attend this exceptional moment.  Urban and casual looks, fluorescent and metallic colors, oversized cuts, double bags, XXL accessories and platform shoes: the Fendi show was a real eye-opener.

 

To close the show, a special guest made her appearance. In blue taffeta dress, Linda Evangelista, had chosen to make her return to the catwalk. She was hiding for several years after being disfigured by a plastic surgery.

 

 

Tommy Hilfiger reinvents itself

 

The American brand has made a new skin. New logo, insertion in the metaverse, the American designer came back with a different style and new ideas. It was three years since the American was not present on the catwalk.

 

It is in Brooklyn, under the rain drops, that the parade began on September 11. Between dj, drag queen and Travis Barker on drums, the guests quickly forgot the raincoats to be seduced by the splendor of this new collection. Suits, ties, gloves sleeves, houndstooth, stripes, punk and biker look, a tasty mix of styles and genres …

 

The show took place at the same time in the parallel world of the metaverse, on the Roblox video game platform. An innovation that allows to reach a wider audience, in the four corners of the world according to the designer.

 

 

Altuzarra, between creation and imagination

 

Joseph Altuzarra was inspired by the desert and the myths that surround it for the fashion show of his New York ready-to-wear brand, last Saturday.  Lightweight cuts, layered garments with both vibrant and sober colors, other oriental-inspired outfits with embellishments, printed fabrics and very present accessories made up his warm looks.

 

 

Marni that seduces

 

It was under the famous Brooklyn Bridge and on a music signed Dec Hynes that Francisco Rossi, artistic director of the brand since 2016, presented his new collection. The front row had big names such as Madonna, Doja Cat and Kendall Jenner.

 

Warm colors, transparency, leather, mesh, short, slim, oversized, xxs cuts. A rich mix of materials and shapes, lunar and trendy, fed a collection with 70s accents, reminiscent of freedom, new-in and disco. An inexhaustible source of inspiration for fashion.

 

This first week of New York Fashion Week shines with the return of physical shows. Enough to almost forget the pandemic that has hampered the fashion world for a long time. Which was eager to express itself ‘IRL’ (in real life) …
