After the Furniture Fair and Design Week, Milan continues to attract crowds for Men’s Fashion Week, which was held until June 21.

The Milanese Men’s Week dedicated to the Spring-Summer 2023 collections announced some 25 shows, of which only five were in digital format. Dsquared2 opened the show, putting an end to its mixed-gender shows, as did Versace, Gucci and Moschino.

At Moschino, the very colorful collection makes you want to brighten up your wardrobe. Aeffe, the artistic director of the brand was inspired by the famous illustrator and fashion photographer of the 1980s, Tony Viramontes. With his images, the American of Mexican origin who died of AIDS at the age of 31 in 1988, has created an imaginary world that has inspired many designers and creators. We find on the outfits abstract strokes of paint, faces just sketched, patterns and other graffiti.

For Missoni, the new artistic director Filippo Grazioli presents his first men’s collection, playing it safe. He cheerfully revisits the codes of the founder of the brand through color and woven patterns, allowing himself to step aside with monochrome outfits, black and white, all on a sporty look.

Less than two years ago, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons joined forces as co-creative directors of Prada and six collections later, they are still successful. Their collection revolves around controlled elegance, “simplicity as a concept, as a choice,” according to Miuccia Prada’s explanation. There were impeccably tailored suits, combining the noble materials dear to Prada and the voluminous silhouettes typical of Raf Simons in gingham fabrics and very colorful, surrounded by black.

Donatella Versace made her comeback at Milan’s men’s fashion week in style, with a standing ovation at the end of the show. There were mega-striped suits and blazers, flowing silk shirts filled with gothic gargoyles or ancient Greek scholars, with jars as accessories.

Harry Styles for Gucci

Another highlight of the fashion week, the announcement of the collaboration between Gucci and the singer Harry Styles. Friend of Alessandro Michele, the artistic director of the house, Harry Styles has participated in the development of this collection that resumes the codes of the “seventies” with pants legs of elephant, printed jackets, brooches in the form of teddy bears or caps Gavroche.

I observed his ability to combine clothes, it is out of the ordinary compared to the expected standards of taste, common sense and homogeneity of appearances. (…) In truth, it was easier for him to play with me and create clothes, than for me to sing with him,” explains Alessandro Michele.

Their collection is called “Ha Ha Ha“, in reference to the combination of the initials of their first names, but also to the way they express themselves on Whatsapp, they explained at a press conference held during the Milan Fashion Week.
