Marriott International signs an agreement with Baraka Lodges in Kenya to open its first ever luxury safari lodge in Africa.
Marriott International has announced that it has signed an agreement with Baraka Lodges to enter the African safari segment. The JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge will be located in the Mara National Reserve in Kenya, one of Africa‘s most renowned wildlife conservation areas. This elegant lodge is expected to welcome guests in 2023.

Overlooking the famous banks of the Talek River and bordering the reserve, the lodge’s prime location will provide guests with a camp overlooking the Masai Mara National Reserve, offering breathtaking views of its abundant wildlife and endless plains. Plans for the new lodge include 20 private tents, including a canvas-covered presidential lodge and two interconnected suites, ideal for families, each with a private deck overlooking the river. Communal areas will include a restaurant, lounge bar, spa and a large outdoor deck with fire pits that will host traditional Maasai dance performances in the evening. Guests will have the privilege of viewing the famous “Big Five” – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino and elephant. Between June and September, the reserve also hosts the annual Great Wildebeest Migration, when more than 10 million animals travel 1,800 miles from the Serengeti in neighbouring Tanzania.
