The merger of two of Limoges’ oldest factories creates a world leader with sales of 90 million euros and 750 employees. The Bernardaud brand, its factory and its 90 employees remain intact.
Two venerable Limoges porcelain houses, among the oldest in the region, will soon become one.
On December 13,the family-owned Bernardaud company, founded in 1863, announced that it had purchased 100% of the shares in its predecessor Haviland, founded in 1842, from Financière Saint-Germain. This holding company, which also owns the Daum crystal glassworks, was founded in 1994 by French-Algerian financier Prosper Amouyal.
Historic opportunity
“This is a historic opportunity for the two houses to pool their skills, know-how and resources… to strengthen an exceptional heritage and prepare for a prosperous future, while respecting their identities,” explained Michel Bernardaud, Chairman of the Board of Maison Bernardaud, who foresees significant synergies between the two brands.
