Italy: Armani and Dior in the crosshairs of the authorities for subcontracting that violates workers’ rights

Italy is investigating cases of subcontracting on behalf of Armani and Dior that failed to respect labor laws. The two groups are also alleged to have provided misleading information on working conditions and compliance with legislation by their suppliers.

When it comes to abuse in the fashion industry, we often think of countries far removed from the so-called “mature” ones. And yet, disrespect for labor rules is sometimes very close…

 

At least, that’s what the Italian Competition Authority is assuming, having launched an investigation into the working conditions of subcontractors working for the Dior, itself a subsidiary of Lvmh, and Armani groups.

Searches

 

Searches were carried out on Tuesday July 16 at the headquarters of Giorgio Armani and Dior Italia, with the support of Italy’s special anti-trust unit and finance guard.
