In the wake of Narendra Modi’s visit to Washington, India has lowered its customs duties from 150% to 100% on American bourbons. But while Uncle Sam’s producers could thus break through better on the peninsula, they could also suffer in other markets from Donald Trump’s policy of arm-wrestling.

But what makes Uncle Sam’s bourbon producers happy is hardly a cause for celebration, as one might expect, for their Indian competitors…
The meeting on February 13th at the White House in Washington between Narendra Modi, the Indian Prime Minister, and US President Donald Trump has already had its first concrete consequence in terms of trade between the two countries.
Immediate reduction
In the wake of this meeting, India announced the immediate reduction of its customs tariff on imports of American bourbons, from 150% to 100%.
