Although her latest 2024 accounts have not yet been published, Stella McCartney has filed 2023 accounts showing a drastic fall in sales and a significant increase in losses. Although the designer recently regained full ownership of her brand, a recovery plan has already been initiated.
Is Stella McCartney better at getting people talking about her and the animal cause than at making money?
This is the conclusion that could be drawn somewhat hastily, in view of the 2023 accounts filed by the company owned by the daughter of the former Beatles, six months after the deadline set by Companies House. Because these results, as revealed by the media outlet City AM, are rather alarming.
Sales halved, losses doubled
In fact, sales of Stella McCartney Ltd were almost halved, falling from 40 million pounds to 21.9 million pounds in 2023. Meanwhile, its pre-tax loss more than doubled to £25 million (compared to £10 million in 2022). The same goes for the final net loss, which rose from £10 million to £24.68 million in one year.
