How Dolce & Gabbana Beauty relies on jewellery tradition to enhance its fragrance collections

Renowned for its Sicilian sensuality, golden opulence and the internalization of its fragrance division since 2022, Dolce & Gabbana released an unusual and fiercely festive accessory at the end of November to accompany its development in prestige perfumery. A case with a “second skin” effect for the fragrances in its exclusive Velvet collection.

Say it with stones…

Not content with taking possession of the glass roof of the Grand Palais in Paris for an exhibition event from January 10, 2025, Dolce & Gabbana extends its emblematic flamboyance to the intimacy of the bathroom with its Precious Jewel Cage. This limited edition has been available since the end of November in a selection of the Italian House’s boutiques and on its official e-commerce site.

The launch of this luxurious case coincides with the launch of two new fragrances in the Velvet collection. It also prepares the way for the brand’s fortieth anniversary in 2025, which will see the arrival of its make-up range.

This is not a bottle

This is a bottle that Karl Lagerfeld would not have denied for his Chanel Paris-Byzance show in 2010.

But appearances can be deceiving – especially in this year celebrating the centenary of the Surrealist movement – and Dolce & Gabbana can’t resist playing on the current craze for trompe l’oeil with its case.

For what appears to be a most exclusive and magnificent bottle is in fact not a bottle at all.

In fact, it’sa two-part cage that fits perfectly together to cover a fragrance from the ultra-high-end Velvet range.

The design is a tribute to the Baroque era and its sense of the spectacular, a thread that has run through the inspirations of creative duo Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana since the brand was founded in 1985. Its rich ornamentation is directly reminiscent of the Maison’s Alta Gioielleria (haute joaillerie) collections, blending creativity and craftsmanship.

At the crossroads of art and luxury design, this Precious Jewel Cage celebrates the tradition of Italian goldsmithing.
