How does Gentle Monster blur the codes between eyewear and jewelry?

For its latest collection, Gentle Monster offers trendy frames that border on the world of jewelry. Entitled “Jewellery”, the collection is accompanied by an advertising campaign and pop-up stores that play on the younger generation’s attraction to pearls and the manga universe. On social networks, Internet users are asking for more.

It’s like being back in the opulence of the 1980s

Not only with the re-election of Donald Trump, who on the day of his inauguration prophesied a very Reagan-esque “America’s Golden Age begins today ”, but also with this capsule collection for men and women from the South Korean brand of avant-garde eyewear.

Usually known for its immersive boutiques and viral product marketing, Gentle Monster seeks to highlight “the timeless elegance of jewelry” as well as redefine eyewear “with magical details and luminous brilliance”. The brand has even designed a magic wand-scepter for the occasion… which has been causing a stir on the web since its launch on January 10.

Punk princess and beads galore

Comprising 10 main styles, the “Jewellery” collection includes a range of frames and sunglasses in wire and metal, with jewelry-inspired details. The glasses are adorned with intricate details on the temples, some featuringbold full chains, pearl necklaces and chainettes.

The collection exudes a 1980s spirit, in line with the trend in recent months for excessive accessorization in the jewelry world. A phenomenon reflected in the superimposition of jewels (rings, necklaces, bracelets), which is all the rage with members of Generation Z.
