Zelensky at the center of all discussions
After a tour of Europe, Volodymyr Zelensky landed in Hiroshima in the middle of the afternoon on a French plane. Handling social networks extensively, the Ukrainian president tweeted shortly after his arrival, stating that this Summit should bring peace closer.
He first met with Emmanuel Macron in a bilateral discussion. The French president said that the presence of his Ukrainian counterpart in Japan could be a game changer for Ukraine.
For his part, Joe Biden told the G7 leaders that he would endorse the delivery of combat aircraft to Ukraine, including F-16s. This decision will help the Ukrainian forces to fill a lack of air assets, while benefiting from a versatile fleet.
With his visit, Mr. Zelensky intends to bring a maximum number of countries to his cause, including emerging countries like India. He had a one-on-one meeting with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who promised to do “everything possible” to resolve the conflict.
Various relations with China
The other important point of this G7 summit was the relationship of the various states with China. It is difficult to start a common discussion, when we know that not all G7 countries have the same relationship with this country. Some, like the United States, seem to be on the fence, while others, on the European side, insist on avoiding any climate of tension with the Asian giant.
