In addition, this new “music box” offered by Hermès is produced in only 440 copies worldwide, available in a selection of Hermès boutiques for a price of 1,327 euros each. The lipsticks in the box can also be purchased individually.
While Hermès had already expanded its lipstick range in early autumn, offering three shades of pink – shaded pink, cheekbone pink and night pink – the luxury firm’s new boxed set completes this collection of shades. While the pink lipsticks for the beginning of the season were offered in refillable cases, the innovative character of the case lies in the appearance of the tubes, which are identical to piano keys.
The design was created by Hermès artistic director Jérôme Touron. “Arranged in line with a black and white lacquer, the lipsticks looked like piano keys”, he said. According to Mr. Touron, the colors are like “musical notes, they can be combined to create harmony.”
The choice of the aesthetics of the box is therefore totally thought out and finally embodies the sensitivity of the artistic director of the Hermès house. About his creation, Jérôme Touron concludes that “More fundamentally, color, like music, is both a precise system, like a frame, and something free, artistic and deeply emotional.”
