The Comité Colbert welcomes two new members: Focal and the Eiffel Tower. The body representing French luxury goods, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year, has added two timeless brands, each in its own way promoting excellence made in France beyond its borders.
Comité Colbert expands to 93 luxury companies, 18 cultural institutions and 6 European members.
Founded in 1954 on the initiative of Jean-Jacques Guerlain, the association representing luxury goods in France has announced the addition of two national flagships. These are high-fidelity sound specialist Focal and the Eiffel Tower, the beloved monument of French people, Parisians and tourists alike, which this year celebrates its 135th birthday.
This news demonstrates the hybridization at work in the luxury sector, which continues to merge with cultural experiences. The arrival of the Iron Lady, in the year of the Paris Olympic Games and the centenary of the 1924 Olympics, is a vibrant example.
The confirmed enthronement of sound
Since 1954, the Comité Colbert has been passionately promoting and sustainably developing the expertise of French luxury brands. These flagships include such great names as Hermès, Van Cleef & Arpels, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Yves Saint Laurent, Christofle, Ritz Paris, Faïencerie de Gien, Berluti, Pierre Frey and Chanel fragrances.
Europe has not been forgotten, with prominent ambassadors including Delvaux leather goods, Dr Irena Eris innovative cosmetics, Hungarian porcelain manufacturer Herend, Bohemian crystal maker Moser, Bohemian glassmaker Riedel and Greek jeweller Zolotas.
This 1901 law association represents no less than 14 different trades: from perfumery to jewelry, fashion, goldsmiths, gastronomy, wines and spirits, design, decoration and music. It is this musical universe, characterized by the necessary but fragile balance between excellence in acoustic know-how and creative innovation, that the committee has chosen to honor by designating Focal as the 93rd member luxury house.
