Fauchon: The union denounces a budget envelope that is “not up to the level of a luxury house”

The Unsa (National Union of Autonomous Trade Unions), the only trade union of the Fauchon caterer in receivership, denounced the “poverty” of the measures accompanying the social plan.

It’s not up to a luxury house like Fauchon. It’s disdainful” denounces Irène Chéradame, Unsa shop steward at Fauchon.

The high-end caterer Fauchon has been hit hard by the Covid-19 crisis.

A  job-saving plan (plan de sauvegarde de l’emploi, PSE) is currently being finalized at the caterer famous for its macaroons, chocolates and delicatessen.

The union has denounced the “poverty” of the accompanying social measures planned.

Unsa deplores a plan to “eliminate 77 out of 107 jobs in Paris, (which) includes only the minimum compensation” for dismissal, while “we wanted supra-legal compensation for those over 55 years old“.

Indeed, of the 77 employees concerned, 20 are over 55.

The employees targeted by the PSE work in the three stores on the Place de la Madeleine, in this case the emblematic address of Fauchon for over 130 years, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.

In addition, it should be noted that the activities of Unsa are grouped together within the subsidiary Fauchon SAS, which was placed into receivership on July 1 by the Bobigny Commercial Court.

On August 10, an open letter was sent to Michel Ducros, the principal shareholder of Fauchon SA, the parent company of Fauchon SAS.

Unsa demanded “serious support measures for the employees laid off, commensurate with the resources of the group and its shareholders.”

The union also demanded “an additional premium” for the seniors, because according to it to find work after 55 years is a course of the combatant, even impossible” , underlined the union in this letter.

This Monday, a final meeting to finalize the PSE is scheduled.

The French Economic and Social Council (ESC) should “give its opinion on this plan” , while the chartered accountant mandated by the ESC will present his report.

It is then tomorrow Tuesday that the Commercial Court of Bobigny “will examine the recovery plan” of Fauchon SAS.

Since, according to the management, Fauchon had suffered from the social movements of the “Yellow Vests” and against the pension reform, before the impact of the health crisis on its sales.
