The Estée Lauder Group announced Thursday the appointment of Jane Lauder to the new position of Executive Vice President, Corporate Marketing and Data, effective July 1. A new position tailored to the granddaughter of founder Estée Lauder.
A new position that comes at a time when the group was the subject of a scandal last January involving a loophole in the data protection system, giving access to more than 440 million pieces of data. An opportunity for The Estée Lauder Companies to review its data protection implications and strengthen its image.
In her new role, the former Senior Vice President, Chief Executive Officer of the Clinique brand, Jane Lauder will be responsible for leading the strategy to develop digital priorities and accelerate the group’s growth. A mission between innovation, marketing and creativity.
“We are committed to delivering the highest quality products based on an understanding of our customers’ expectations gained through our cutting-edge analytical tools, and I am confident that Jane is the right person to lead this key business activity,” said Fabrizio Freda, CEO of The Estée Lauder Companies.
“As Global President of the Clinical brand and responsible for ELC’s initiatives to combine customer insight and creativity, she has been able to leverage data and analytical capabilities to drive long-term growth at both the brand and corporate levels. Jane combines an understanding of high-end customer experiences with a data analytics capability, which will further enhance our range of innovative products and experiences for our customers around the world. I look forward to working more closely with Jane“.
As a graduate of Stanford University, and after more than 23 years with The Estée Lauder Companies, Jane Lauder has unparalleled experience and expertise for the company. She is also a member of the board of directors of the Eventbrite ticketing and technology platform, which gives her strong ties to Silicon Valley that will serve her well in her new role.
She will be in charge of strategic intelligence and analysis, corporate marketing and consumer-driven technologies. She will bring a modern approach to portfolio management and consumer marketing technologies.
She will oversee the Business Insight & Analytics group to continue to accelerate the company’s ability to generate value across brands, functions, partners and employees.
She will ensure the free flow of data across business units to help teams more effectively extract, analyze and share strategic intelligence. It will also strengthen cross-data integration to promote one-to-one marketing and true multi-channel deployment.
In addition, Lauder and her team will ensure The Estée Lauder Companies has access to leading digital innovations through a more formal approach to strategic partnership management, including pioneering marketing partnerships with key players such as Facebook and Google. The team will build relationships with emerging and influential platforms, as well as partners in the marketing, digital innovation and customer engagement ecosystem.
As for Clinique, Michelle Freyre will succeed Jane Lauder as Senior Vice President, Brand Management, effective July 1.
