La Maison de la rue Cambon has won its appeal for parasitism against shoemaker Jonak. The latter was required to withdraw from sale pumps overly inspired by Chanel models, in particular its iconic two-tone “slingbacks”.
Chanel was right to persist: it has just won its case against Jonak.
On October 16, the Paris Court of Appeal condemned the shoe brand for acts of parasitism committed against the Maison de la rue Cambon.
Jonak was ordered to pay Chanel 150,000 euros and 30,000 euros respectively for economic and moral damages. The brand is now forbidden to sell its two-tone Dhapou and Dhapop pumps, in their beige and black-toe versions, as well as the Ivana model.
Immediate withdrawal from the market
The offending pairs must be withdrawn from the market within one month, with the threat of a penalty payment of €1,000 per day of delay.
