Chanel unveils a new ambassador for its off-season campaign: singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams. Known for opening for Taylor Swift’s world tour The Eras Tour, the 25-year-old singer is not only part of pop’s young guard, alongside her other friend Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo, but also one of fashion’s new Z icons.
Spotted wearing Chanel at both the Grammy Awards and the recent MET Gala, Gracie Abrams seemed an obvious choice.
For her pre-collection, the interpreter of “I love you, i’m sorry ” was captured by the lens of Craig McDean. The staging highlights the American artist’s minimalist, sophisticated style, showing a Chanel woman anchored in her time.
Virgin Suicide director at the helm
The pre-collection campaign was directed by Sofia Coppola. For the director of Virgin Suicide, Lost in Translation and Marie-Antoinette, Gracie Abrams embodies a whole new generation of “Chanel Girls”, full of audacity and freshness.
The singer’s style, both on stage and off, stands out for its simplicity and its obvious penchant for vintage fashion. The campaign conveys this idea of discreet luxury by mixing casual dressing with great sophistication.
The performer of “Close to You” offers combos in tune with the times, combining the phlegm of a classic or baseball-inspired tweed jacket with the casual spirit of jeans.
As for accessories, the fashion house made an effort to offer stylistic choices in line with the singer’s personality. These include bows reminiscent of the singer’s signature hairstyle, which has become a rallying point for her fans, who don’t hesitate to adopt it when going to see her concerts.
The campaign also features feminine pop pieces in soft tones, including bags complemented by earrings and sautoir necklaces.
