With preparations for the festive season in full swing, King Charles III and his wife Camilla unveiled the list of the second series of royal mandates since the start of their reign. Six of these were awarded to French champagne houses, including Bollinger, doyen of the title for 140 years.
Cock-a-doodle-doo!
The French Champagne Houses, in good standing with local sparkling wines at the coronation celebrations of Charles III on May 6, 2023, ended 2024 on a high note.
Six of them, including Bollinger, a champagne house well known to film buffs and James Bond fans, had their royal warrant renewed by King Charles III.
A total of 396 Royal Warrants in various sectors were made official by the King and Queen on December 19.
Far more than a mere honor, a Royal Warrant offers its holder privileged access to the circles of British and Commonwealth power, as well as recognition on the world stage.
Winners… and losers
In all, no fewer than 800 brands hold the precious sesame. These include the indestructible Fortnum & Mason for tea (since 1955), and Barbour for outerwear (since 1974).
Among the lucky few in this second round of adoubt, six champagne houses retain their royal mandate. In addition to Laurent Perrier, appointed last May, Pol Roger, Roederer, Veuve Clicquot and Moët & Chandon (both owned by LVMH) have seen their title of royal supplier renewed.
Also retaining this distinction, Bollinger champagne boasts the record for longevity in the hearts of the British royal family: 140 years!
