Cannes: rebirth of the mythical Palm Beach

Laid on Friday, January 15, 2021, the first stone of the renovation project of this mythical address symbolizes a brand new start for the Palm Beach in Cannes. It is scheduled to open by 2023.
Indeed, the famous casino will be transformed into a luxurious leisure destination by 2023. Patrick Tartary of the Cannes Balneaire company has invested around 100 million euros in this renovation. At the same time, he also obtained a 99-year lease (until 2119).
As for the renovation, it has been totally entrusted to the firm of Cannois Caprini & Pellerin Architects, for overall architectural supervision.
An address that has become mythical!
Located on the tip at the end of the mythical Croisette, Palm Beach was the first summer casino in Cannes. Its architectural plan, designed by Roger Seassal, an architect from Nice, was built like a Palace of a Thousand and One Nights.
For the record, in 1963 the place is marked by the passage of the director Henri Verneuil and his actors: Jean Gabin and Alain Delon, for the filming of the famous scene of bank bills scattered over the pool in the movie Melody in the Basement.
The casino will then remain closed for 11 years, and will later become a place for receptions, dinner-shows and private events.
It will finally be transferred to the 4-star hotel 3.14 in the spring of 2017.
An opening, but also great challenges to be met
On the program, first of all its mythical Olympic seawater swimming pool on the West terrace, a new beach, a large event hall, a shopping mall, restaurants, and finally an underground parking lot. And all this for a total surface area of 23,000 m2 for more than 100 million euros in financing.
The goal? To revive the legend of the Palm Beatch! Architect Jerry Pellerin states: “Our ambition is to restore the Palm Beach to its former glory by rehabilitating the noble and historic parts while adding a contemporary touch”.
