Balenciaga launched the second part of its Hacker collection in the United States, with Saks Fifth Avenue as its exclusive partner.
Balenciaga’s “The Hacker Project” collection that hacks Gucci clothing and accessories is available in pop-up stores within Saks Fifth Avenue. In particular, the collections will be found in the New York, Houston, Atlanta and Troy stores, where customers can purchase the collection of women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, handbags and accessories.
The Saks x Balenciaga Hacker Project pop-ups will be on display in Saks New York and Houston stores through December 15 on the first floor, and in Saks Atlanta and Troy stores from December 15 through January 15.
For the Hacker project, Balenciaga creative director Demna Gvasalia focused on the Florentine house’s GG monogram canvas from the 1960s and transformed it into double-B logos. These appear on a range of bags that were designed and made by Gucci designers. With a nod to artist Rene Magritte, Gvasalia spray-painted “This Is Not a Gucci Bag” on the largest of the totes. The series also includes small leather goods, caps, BB buckle belts and scarves.
Tracy Margolies, head of merchandising at Saks, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Balenciaga for the Hacker collection pop-ups to showcase one of the most anticipated collections of the year. Saks always strives to bring unique products to our customers and we expect the response to exceed our expectations.”
The Hacker project will be presented in 74 physical spaces around the world with pop-ups present at Galeries Lafayette in Paris, Harrods in London, Bon Génie in Geneva, Ssense in Montreal and Tokyo Isetan Stage in Japan, among others.
