Aspen is the second most expensive President’s Day destination in the USA. The vacation, which takes place this year from February 16 to 19, has seen prices soar in the posh Rocky Mountain ski resort. Only Wailea, in the Hawaiian archipelago, can compete.
Cheaphotels.org has voted Aspen, the chic Colorado ski resort, as the second most expensive destination in the USA over the extended President’s Day weekend (February 16-19, 2024). Wailea, the resort town in Hawaii, is the only one to rival it, at $678 for a double room.
To establish its rankings, the platform based its analysis on entry-level prices for a night’s stay in 3 to 5 star hotels in prime hotel destinations (a minimum of 20 establishments) in the U.S., conveniently located (downtown, seaside or ski lifts). The analysis was based on prices observable on the Kayak comparison site as of February 15.
A destination in the wind
At 2,422 meters above sea level, the resort town of Aspen, population 6,471 – named after its forests of aspen trees – has become a winter resort for celebrities. With a single point of access by road, Aspen boasts its own airport: Aspen/Pitkin County Airport.
According to the Cheaphotels.org survey, Aspen is the second most expensive destination for the extended President’s Day weekend, at $674 per night. The podium is completed by a second Colorado resort: Breckenridge, where the nightly rate is $654.
