Appointment of Leena Nair as CEO of Chanel

The House of Chanel announced on Tuesday the appointment of the British of Indian origin, Leena Nair, as Chief Executive Officer and Alain Wertheimer as Executive Chairman.

Leena Nair, 52, was previously HR Director at Unilever, a consumer products group. She had been with the group for 30 years, starting her career as a trainee.

“This new leadership partnership, decided by the board of directors of Chanel Limited (UK), is designed to ensure the long-term success of the privately held company,” Chanel said in a statement.

Chanel also said in its statement that Chanel’s owner with his brother Gérard, Alain Wertheimer, would take over as global executive chairman.

Chanel said in its statement that Leena Nair will be based in the city of London and will take up her role from the end of January 2022.
